When I restarted my journey into therapy, having more autonomy on picking a new therapist, she gave me terms and tools to navigate and simply process through my feelings. Emotional regulation seems so much easier when I am able to name what I am feeling and understand it. Trusting my intuition is huge when it is easy to be outnumbered. I was going through a business separation at the time and taking in the members of my family that molested me and/or attempted to molest me. I picked up multiple books and could never imagine how much those books and having an incredible resource and therapist has done hand in hand with rest and community care. To me, tattooing is self harm reduction. I tattoo myself a lot. When I am feeling hazy and in my winter blues, it’s a time I generally reflect and finally lay out my ideas. This one is beautifully done and designed all by Una (@unanovotny_art ) This time, I just got to lay there and let myself feel pain and feel..literally something. And for the people who will get that, will get that. It never makes sense when you’re in the chair but afterwards there truly is this state of euphoria. When I started in this industry, I had the men who I worked with laugh at the idea of self harm, called folks like us emo. Well, I truly am the divine feminine and in touch with my emotions. As I have moved along in my own mental health journey and in this industry, I’ve realized how much self harm and tattoo’ing almost goes hand in hand. Especially after the pandemic and the outpour of support of having a space that was still wearing masks and putting out our procedures of sanitation. I truly think that I don’t just tattoo and if you show up ready to be vulnerable with me—I’ll make the space to be a healer. Right now, I can’t pour from an empty cup and I am choosing rest to replenish these resources. For now, I’m giving you an opportunity to tune in to see me. 👁️

It is my job to make you feel comfortable and allow your relationship to show through the photos. Embrace the experience and make the most of it. I give you prompts, you put your own spin on it! 2. Coordinate outfits Your outfits should look good together with the location. I am always here to help guide you on what outfits match the vibe of the location best. You don’t have to be matching completely but making sure your outfits go together will make the photos turn out best! Wear something that is YOU. If wearing a big dress isn’t your vibe, then don’t wear it! Photos can look professional with jeans and a tank top too. 3. Choose a location that reflects who you are as a couple Remember that this is YOUR session. These photos are about you and the love that you share with one another. Make the shoot include a picnic, swimming, a sentimental place, coffee shop, music, or dancing. Anything that makes you feel most comfortable around each other. 4. You are never wrong There is never a “wrong way” to do a pose! During your shoot, I like to give prompts and have the couple take their own spin on it. Every couple is unique in their own way! Candid moments are captured best when you put your own spin on the poses/ prompts. 5. Trust your photographer If it is your first time doing a photoshoot you may think that your photographer is making you do poses that are strange and unsure on how they are going to turn out, but TRUST your photographer. You hired them for a reason.   2. hi friends! i'd love to publicly welcome sakura bana into our family!! a family style restaurant originally opened in 1986 as sushi ichiban and now sakura bana it is omaha's oldest sushi restaurant and the prototype for how we experience japanese food in america today. the itamae tony-san is omahas og sushi chef and the grandfather to a majority of the sushi chefs in the city, including me. after running the counter for 38 years, tony-san has been eyeing a well deserved retirement and im humbled he chose me to take on the responsibility of keeping this family style restaurant alive. trust me when i tell you im as much a regular as any. with dreams of becoming a sushi chef in the early 90's, tony-san gave me a job as a busboy when i was 15. my tears flavored the wasabi i was tasked with making before clearing your table of dishes. in its original location, i used to sit as a kid while we waited for a table and just stare in awe at the pictures of the celebrities on the wall. ive been eating here with my parents and now my own family for a combined 32 years. this is the sushi i grew up on. i understand the piece of history we're trying to preserve and while we're naturally making some changes, im excited to dive into some japanese food classics with hopes to bring some fresh new things to the city. please give us a little grace as we're still in the process of taking over operations, but expect some new faces and some new menu items over the next few months. we'd love to have you and your family for dinner cheers! 🥂 please head to www.sushiomaha.com for reservations
