Modash and Upfluence – both all-in-one influencer marketing platforms – have a lot in common. Their features appear the same on the surface: discover influencers, analyze their profiles, reach out to them, track their performance, and pay them for their work.

So, which one should you choose? This article lays down the differences between the two platforms to help you decide.

Why choose Modash over Upfluence?

Modash has a much larger pool of influencers, flexible & transparent pricing, and faster payments.

Modash vs. Upfluence at a glance

The main difference is that Modash is more suited for teams that want a large pool of potential influencers (so they never run out of fresh faces), scalable & transparent pricing, and self-serve options. Upfluence is more suited for businesses with huge budgets running large-scale affiliate campaigns.

Modash has a much bigger library of influencers

Modash has every single creator with 1k+ followers across Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. No restrictions. That’s over 250M influencer profiles. 🤯

In contrast, Upfluence (even with its additional social media channels) has just over 8 million creators. That number may sound enough on the surface, but your potential influencer pool shrinks significantly when you start applying filters – especially while trying to search for creators in niche categories or influencers in smaller-sized markets.

This also means that if your creator partner isn’t already a part of Upfluence, you need to onboard them manually into the platform to work with them and track their performance.

Upfluence offers discovery across a wide range of social media platforms

Upfluence’s strength is it offers influencer discovery across a wide range of platforms: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, X, and Pinterest. This is excellent if you’re looking to collaborate with creators across various social media channels: you can manage all types of collaborations across social media platforms under one tab.

But remember, even with the variety of social media networks, Upfluence might not be able to help you find fresh creators every time due to the limited number of influencers within the tool. The more filters you start applying, the more the potential influencer pool dries up.

Modash has a self-serve option

Influencer marketing platforms require a significant financial investment. It’s only natural to want to get a feel for the tool before you pour your money and resources into it. Modash makes that incredibly easy: we have a free trial including all the features. You don’t need to even take out your credit card.

Upfluence has a free influencer analysis Chrome extension but no self-serve option to test the whole platform. You need to fill out a form on their website, schedule a sales demo, sit through it, and then get access to the tool. That’s devoting a lot of time and energy just to take Upfluence for a quick test drive.

Modash offers scalable, transparent pricing and monthly payment options

Even when you’ve managed to sit through the sales call with Upfluence, you don’t have the flexibility to subscribe to the tool for just one month. Upfluence requires you to sign a minimum of 6-month contracts upfront.

And not to add fuel to the fire, but I found many recent reviews complaining about Upfluence's auto-renewal practices.

The final cherry on top? Upfluence has quite a high entry price. Their plans start at $995/month for just one seat to the tool. It only goes up from there for more seats, features, and services.

Modash offers accessible pricing for small and large businesses alike. Do we offer discounts on yearly pricing? Of course. But that doesn’t mean we erase monthly payment options in their entirety. You have the flexibility to pay month-over-month for as long as you’d like.

And our pricing is far more accessible and flexible. It can scale with you. For a similar starter plan (including two seats), our Essentials plan costs just $199/month if you pay yearly and $299/month if you pay monthly.

Upfluence offers agency support

White Glove is Upfluence’s agency that runs your influencer marketing campaigns for you from beginning to end. They will source influencers, negotiate & collaborate with them, and also measure the ROI.

You get full transparency within the tool without doing the tedious tasks, but remember you’re also handing over your influencer relationship building to Upfluence’s agency. Not to mention: not having first-hand direct relationships with your creators will make switching influencer platforms and/or changing your strategy tricky and troublesome.

This add-on service is useful if you want a more hands-off approach with your influencer marketing efforts and don’t mind missing out on building solid creator relationships. If you don’t want to hand over the reins completely, Upfluence also offers the option to run product seeding campaigns, consulting hours with its in-house experts, and arrange offline influencer events.

Modash doesn’t offer agency support. It’s software-only.

Upfluence (unreliably) assumes influencer rates

Upfluence offers a rough estimate of an influencer’s pricing. It’s unclear what this price is based on. The reasoning is having this rate can help you understand whether or not an influencer is within your budget and use this information in your negotiations.

But it can easily backfire. Having this rate can create a false and misleading benchmark of what you should pay a creator. An influencer’s price can vary massively – depending on the type of campaign, duration of collaboration, kind of content, etc. It’s impossible to simplify rates this way.

Modash doesn’t offer any pricing recommendations because we believe that’s for you to decide based on your campaign, goals, type of collaboration, and budget.

Modash pays your creators faster

Modash and Upfluence both offer an option to pay your creators via their tools. The difference? Modash pays your influencers as soon as possible – usually within one to three days.

Delayed payments can significantly damage your reputation among creator partners. It can even be a huge reason why a creator chooses to discontinue their partnership with you. And you don’t want that kind of talk in the market about you…just because your influencer marketing tool was buggy and slow with paying your influencers.

With Modash, your brand image stays intact without drowning in creator invoices. You can purchase Modash Payments separately at $5,000/year. Modash handles everything from invoicing & payment (in up to 36 currencies), tax, compliance, and creator support.

Upfluence has more features for managing affiliate campaigns

Upfluence has a few features that make it a more convenient choice for influencer affiliate campaigns.

  • Amazon affiliate campaigns: if you sell your products via Amazon, you can integrate your Amazon storefront with your Upfluence account. This will allow you to create unique links for affiliates that lead directly to your Amazon store.

  • Integrations with various ecommerce platforms: while Modash connects with Shopify, Upfluence connects with Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, Refersion, and BigCommerce, too.

Modash has a more reliable outreach tool

Both Modash and Upfluence offer integrations with Gmail and Outlook to practice your influencer outreach and communicate with influencers directly from within the tool.

But, multiple reviews complain that Upfluence’s response rates are extremely low and unreliable. This could stem from Upfluence’s limited influencer pool. Many high-demand influencers might be receiving mass emails from too many brands because there are only a few of them in the tool.

Modash customers have no such complaints. And the inbox feature is better because you can also see a thorough influencer analysis and a conversation history with the creator. No need to jog your memory or go back and verify creator metrics.

Credit where credit’s due: Upfluence offers a ChatGPT integration to make comms easier and more efficient. However, Modash offers quick-use templates to help you draft and send engaging emails faster.

Modash offers a better creator experience

Creators only need to sign up on Modash while getting paid using the Modash Payments tool. But they don’t need to do anything while you find influencers, analyze their profile details, reach out to them, and track their performance. All they have to do is create content for you.

But on Upfluence, creators need to authenticate their profile (unless they were already within the tool) so you can track their performance and communicate with them. This creates a lot of friction and work on the creator’s end. Modash can track all influencer content automatically (even Instagram Stories!) and integrates with your email provider seamlessly. Your creator partner doesn’t have to lift a finger.

This not only reduces your work (you don’t have to follow up with creators who haven’t authenticated their profiles), but also makes the working experience smoother for your influencer partners.
